Terms of Service
Effective date: August 25, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Harbor mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Harbor ("Harbor," "we," "us," or "our"). Please read them carefully.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Harbor.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Harbor. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law or if we have previously suspended or removed your account for violations of these Terms.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You may not impersonate others, use another person's account without permission, or create accounts through unauthorized automated means.
- Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. The Service
Harbor is a community-first social platform. Features may include feeds, communities, direct messaging, warm introductions, events, search, maps, stories, and other tools we make available from time to time. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
4. User content
You retain ownership of content you post on Harbor ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant Harbor a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting and technical delivery), display, and distribute your User Content solely to operate, promote, and improve the Service.
You represent that you own or have the rights necessary to post your User Content and that it does not violate these Terms or anyone else's rights.
5. Community standards
You agree not to use Harbor to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse others
- Post hate speech, unlawful discrimination, or content that promotes violence
- Share sexually exploitative content involving minors, or non-consensual intimate imagery
- Distribute spam, scams, malware, or deceptive schemes
- Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
- Collect or harvest user data without consent
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by reverse engineering or circumventing security
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
Community organizers and moderators may set additional rules for their communities, provided those rules do not conflict with these Terms. We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these standards.
6. Introductions and messaging
Harbor's introduction feature is designed to facilitate warm connections between users who share communities or mutual context. You agree to use introductions respectfully and not to misuse messaging features for unsolicited commercial outreach, harassment, or spam.
7. Events and payments
Users may create or discover events through Harbor. Some events may offer paid admission. Payments are processed by Stripe or other payment partners. By purchasing a ticket, you also agree to Stripe's terms and any event-specific policies displayed at checkout.
Harbor is not the event organizer unless we explicitly state otherwise. Organizers are responsible for their events, including cancellations, refunds, safety, and compliance with local laws. Disputes regarding an event should be directed to the organizer in the first instance.
8. Intellectual property
Harbor's name, logos, product design, and software are owned by Harbor or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service without our written permission.
9. Third-party services and links
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party websites, maps, payment providers, or external event pages. We are not responsible for third-party services. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using Harbor at any time and may delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, pose a risk to users or the Service, or where required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. Harbor does not warrant that the service will be secure, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components, or that user content or interactions will be accurate or reliable.
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, both online and offline, including meetings arranged through introductions or events. Exercise caution and good judgment.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, harbor and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or the service will not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred u.s. dollars (us$100) or (b) the amount you paid harbor in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Harbor and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Dispute resolution and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise.
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. If we cannot resolve a dispute within 30 days, either party may bring a claim in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and each party consents to personal jurisdiction there, except where prohibited by applicable consumer protection law.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service, by email, or on our website. The updated Terms become effective when posted unless otherwise stated. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
